Rice harvesting on October 4, 2025

Some LRP members harvested rice at Hida, which was planted on May.

The rice has grown well and its color is vibrant. However, we were worried about the weather.

First, the rice was harvested by hand using a sickle, and then the harvested ears were tied together with straw, which was quite hard work.

A binder machine was introduced halfway through the work. The manual harvesting was just for the experience. After the binder was introduced, the work progressed more efficiently.

As the rain began to fall, we set the rice bundled with binders onto racks, which was a difficult task in itself.

The work was finished. The sight of the rice hanging on the racks is amazing. The rice dried in the sun is said to be exceptionally delicious. After this, heavy rain started. We managed to avoid the rain just in time.

The next day, we took the Shinhotaka Ropeway to observe the transition of vegetation. However, due to bad weather, we couldn't see anything... We then returned safely to Kyoto. It was a whirlwind tour, but thank you all for your hard work.
