Djaimin N.H.. Tokito M., Asano S., Saizen I. Salime Z. Evaluation of Sea Transportation Connectivity and its Impact on Economic Development in the Maluku Archipelago Area, Indonesia. Journal of the Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies, Vol. 16, 2025, PP3989. DOI: 10.11175/easts.16.PP3989

This paper statistically analyzes the level of connectivity between private and commercial vessel use in Indonesia's Maluku Islands and identifies correlations between maritime transport and the economy. It shows that passenger movement plays an important role in driving regional economic development in the Maluku Islands, while cargo transport poses challenges to economic growth. These results suggest that further attention to cargo transport is needed for future development. Additionally, assessing the level of maritime connectivity in rural areas of the Maluku Islands provides new insights for building regional maritime connectivity in other archipelagos. This paper was conducted in collaboration with the Indonesian National Innovation Agency (BRIN).
